Noted Fashion Illustrator George Stavrinos’ Drawing Reported Stolen from New Hampshire Institute of Art

The Police Department of Manchester, New Hampshire tweeted on Saturday January 30, 2016 that a drawing by George Stavrinos had been reported stolen from the New Hampshire Institute of Art between November 25 and December 12, 2015. Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, George Stavrinos was a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design whose drawings and illustrations were published in The New York Times, Gentleman’s Quarterly and Cosmopolitan. According to his New York Times obituary, Stavrinos also freelanced for Barney’s Clothes and Bergdorf Goodman. His illustrations were also published in New York Magazine, Vogue, Psychology Today and many more prestigious publications and corporations. He was a member Push Pin Studio, the influential graphic design and illustration studio in New York City, founded by Milton Glaser, Seymour Chwast, Reynold Ruffins, and Edward Sorel.

The stolen drawing measures 12”x14” and is valued at $5,000.
